Its listed as this 3rd pattern FS Dagger that is a great functional replica that's good for reenactors but its not really that ideal as a replica when there are many British made knives that are cheaper and look the part. Plus the sheath and ricasso add better functionality and quality to the flaws in the current replicas being produced so this is not a good repo. This knife is highly functional and works exactly how the weapon was originally designed but it not quite like all the other modern interpretations ether. Just about every other functional modern style dagger is much nicer, higher quality and even collector grade in presentation. Most of these better knives come with that "better" price of 2-3x more for what is essentially the same tool. This knife is not a good repo nor the best FS dagger out there but simply a commando style dagger that actually works as intended. It's definitely good value all high carbon steel even in the handel and the leather sheath is Gucci next to some of the other horrible leather replicas out there that are more accurate but much more crap. MIKOV actually made a classic style FS Dagger that most people interested in one are looking for, a good quality dagger with a very fair price. In fact MIKOV might not know what they have here and could change the handle back to a cheaper aluminum with the 2nd pattern knurled style grip and maybe even a special titanium version with an anodized finish. The sheath could be improved to a nylon-polymer MOLLE style that protects the blade better as it could break from hard impact from the soft leather sheath that not accurate anyway. The blade itself is great as is and requires not refinement or sharping ether so if these changes reduce the cost in anyway it's just better value for the 80% of interested buyers who just want a high quality knife without the high cost that comes with it. So essentially this is just an FS Commando style dagger that works as one was intended and that's about it. And that is a lot more to say about then all the others out there being made. |
